I'm writing this to try to stem the number of email requests about upgrading from an older Newton to newer Newtons.
This process will carry over all of your registration codes and all of the other prefs for my software.
Follow these steps
- Backup your old Newton.
You can either:
- Backup to a storage card
- Backup using the Newton Backup Utility
- Restore the backup to your new Newton
Now, if you are worried about old data and you want to start fresh then you shoud still follow the above steps. After the data has been restored then use TraskPak! to delete old soups and preferences. TrashPak is simple to use and as long as you have the recent backup you shouldn't get into much trouble using it. Don't delete any system soup items with an ID less than 10 unless you are sure it is not system data. Check AMUG's site or one of their mirror sites for TrashPak!.
