Trouble syncing with Quicken

Postby coralbug109 » Thu May 24, 2012 5:11 pm

I recently purchased PocketMoney for my iPad because I saw that it would sync with Quicken, and I wanted to be able to access my Quicken information on the go without setting up a whole new system in a new software. I have a Mac, so I use Quicken Essentials, which apparently doesn't export QIF files. Therefore, I attempted to export a CSV file instead. I used the WiFi transfer to "Restore from Desktop" and uploaded the CSV file, quit PM, relaunched it, and then received this error message:

***-[__NSArrayM objectAtIndex:]: index 10 beyond bounds [0 ..9]

Can you tell me what this means and how I can upload the file correctly?

IIRC, you can also use iTunes File Sharing to import CSV files into PMiOS.

Technically you aren't SYNCING PMiOS with Quicken; you are doing importing and exporting.

Yes, you are right, I am importing and exporting. Can you explain to me how I can use iTunes File Sharing?

Well, Cora that would be easy IF my main computer's power supply hadn't died! I have a post that I made on iFS bookmarked on that computer. Let me do a search and when I find it here in the forum, I'll post the link.

OK, here is the link. Note, while this uses the PocketMoneyDB.sql file as the target document, the same procedure can be used for other applicable documents.

Also, this link addresses CSV formatting:

Dennis,

Thanks so much for helping me. I was able to import the file using iTunes File Sharing, but I had the same problem. I checked the CSV file and I think I would have to change the columns each time I tried to import it, for each account. I use a lot of cash accounts to keep track of spending, so this doesn't seem practical. I'm thinking this PM isn't the app solution I was looking for, unless I'm missing something. I guess I'll have to either just use Quicken on my laptop, or switch over to a new software/app system in order to sync my laptop and iPad.

Again, thanks for your help. Cora

Cora, have you tried PocketMoney for Desktop (PMD)? I replaced Quicken with it back in January 2011.

BTW, the new power supply arrived yesterday so I typed this on my resurrected iMac. It's good to have it back!
