PocketMoney Desktop 2.0.3

Postby HardyMacia » Thu Mar 29, 2012 11:50 pm

PocketMoney Desktop 2.0.3 is now on my site for downloading:
http://www.catamount.com/desktopApps.php

There were several OFX/QFX file import bugs fixed,
the OS X display issue with the Transaction Editor fixed,
the constant update issue on Windows fixed,
and a startup crash under Linux fixed.

This will probably be the last version I release for PowerPC Macintoshes. The development environment I'm using has stopped supporting PPCs and at some point I won't be able to use the old complier with the current code base. I know Romad is a PPC user...if there are others of you let me know and I might change my mind, or we all need to chip in to buy Romad a new Mac.

I've acted in haste but here goes....

I was being lazy so went ahead and bought Pocketmoney through the app store just now (v. 2.0.1), only then when I was on your website realised it wasn't the latest version.... so I then download the newer version (2.0.3) and is it asking me to buy it :-(

How can I get it running the latest version? Do I need to ask Apple for a refund? :-(

Thanks for your help :-)

I think that you are confusing two things here.

The latest version of PocketMoney for the iPhone, which you would buy and/or update from the app store is V 4.0. It is owned and developed by Catamount, but sold by Apple. Once you have paid for it, all subsequent upgrades are free.

The latest version of PocketMoney Desktop, which has nothing to do with Apple, is V 2.0.3. PocketMoney Desktop is owned and sold by Catamount from this website as an accompaniment to the iPhone. It also works in conjunction with Android and Windows phones.

Hope this clears things up for you.

No, Tom, there IS a version of PMD that is sold on the Mac App Store. I can't use the MAS since I have a PPC Mac and it requires an Intel Mac running 10.6.6 minimum. Even if I had an Intel Mac, I would not use the MAS; the original App Store for iOS is too restrictive already.

No need to be embarrassed; if you don't use Mac OS, you wouldn't know about it. I certainly don't know what is available for Windows currently (other than Win7) as I have had to use Windows since I retired 4 years ago.

Your only choice at this point is to wait until (or if) PMD 2.0.3 shows up on the Mac App Store. I don't know if Apple will give refunds from the MAS. If they do, then purchase PMD directly from Hardy. I'd also suggest you delete the MAS from your Mac; it isn't required unlike the App Store is for iOS.

Does it place an Error log on your desktop? If so, when you email support@catamount.com, attach that log to the email so Hardy can see what is happening.

Just upgraded to 2.0.3 and on my PC desktop version when I start the Sync Server the address it gives me is 0.0.0.0

What's up with that? I had no problems with the earlier version.

Did you start the sync server? File>Start Sync Server

Then go to Preferences>Synchronization and check the box "Start Synchronization Server when PocketMoney Starts"

Yes I started the sync server.

When I looked in the Options/Synchronization tab, I noticed the dropdown box and chose the ip from there. All OK now.

You are stopping new releases for PPC (Linux) but that makes me wonder what is the future for Windows development, are you planning to keep working on Windows and MAC versions ?

When I buy PM version 2.3 (ex: for windows) am I allow to continue downloading future versions: 3 ... 4... 5 and so on or I had to buy each one of them ?

btw.... A web version would be awesome!

Ah, he is stopping development for ALL machines that use the PowerPC chip. That INCLUDES Mac G5 machines like my iMac G5 ALS. Windows machines never used PPC chips, so you're safe. Bottomline: only Intel chip platforms will be supported, be they running Mac OS, Linux, or Windows.

Re: PocketMoney Desktop 2.0.3 multiple Apple device sync iss

Postby mikeshu » Sun Sep 02, 2012 4:56 pm

Have PM 2.0.3 on Mac desktop, MacBook Air (both Mountain Lion), iPhone 4G & iPad 1st gen. (both iOS 5.1.1). iPhone, iPad & Mac desktop all sync via server 10.0.1.5, port 9191. MacBook defaults to server 10.0.1.6, port 9191. I've tried to change the MacBook server in Preferences, but system won't allow it. If I change the server on the iPhone to 10.0.1.6 & sync. to MacBook, it works fine. Is there a way I'm missing to change the MacBook server address to match the other Apple products? Thanks.
