Rollovers in 4.0

Postby HardyMacia » Fri Mar 30, 2012 12:18 am

I haven't made a video or written up new documentation on it yet. Basically turn it Rollover budgets ON for the budget categories that you want to be rollover budgets. Then the unused budget from the last month will continue to carry over to the next month. If you want to reset the rollover then you enable the Variable Budgets and there will be checkbox that allows to you restart the rollover budget in a certain month. You do need to turn on Variable Budgets and set when you initial Rollover budget will be starting.

From there on out you will see under the Available column:
March $50
April $100
May $150
...
adjust of course for any transactions for the period you are looking at.

My rollover budgets dont seem to work for categories with sub categories. Do I need to separate out the sub categories?

I am having a very difficult time with Budgets. I have read the use manual as well as viewed your videos on both rollover and variable budgets. I wish to set mine up for rollover. I started using Pocket Money effective Dec 29 and have reset the rollover for all budgets to that date, yet the amounts showing as available are not correct and causing me to be in the red for my income, and showing money available in the budget categories that is really not available. I need help!!!

What budget period are you looking at? January 2013 or Dec 2012. Dec 12 might be wonky since it has most of a month that is pre-rollover.

Can you send screen shots of what is happening? It might help explain what you are seeing better.

I got it figured out. I ended up changing the start date on my budget to 01-01-13 and resetting the rollover date to 01-01-13. Now, everything looks great!!! Thanks for the comment about Dec 12, apparently that was really throwing everything off.
