Unable to Sync Android to Desktop

I am running Pocketmoney lite on android 2.3.4 and pocketmoney desktop on Windows 7.

I am unable to get them to sync. I have tried:

* just plugging the phone into the USB connector, which connects the two devices (android shows up as a drive) and used 127.0.0.1 port 9100. Does NOT work. (no internet connection)

* tried using the phone as a modem which give my an ip of 68.xxx.xxx.xxx etc. and made sure to properly configure the server and client IP and port on both devices.
DOES NOT work..

What am I doing wrong. Please advise how to get these two devices to sync.

Does the 'Lite' App for Android allow synchronisation? It doesn't on iOS platforms.
