All amounts cleared ?

I have CheckPlease (paid) on my Verizon DROID3.

If I'm using the app in a restaurant and the screen goes to sleep, upon turning the screen back on, all the values I entered are cleared.

The same thing happens if another app is used, such as a TXT messages comes in or I need to check the time or whatever, all the values are cleared after I hit the "back" arrow to return to CheckPlease.

This is really annoying when you put the money in and pass the phone around for each party to see the amount, the phone sleeps after ~2 minutes, press the button the wake-up, and the numbers are gone.

Is there any way to avoid this?
