Future transaction

Postby Mikus » Wed Mar 28, 2012 6:34 pm

Hi,
When I make a new transaction for a future date in my iPhone, it is appears shaded. But when I sync, the desktop version does not make that difference between the recent and future transactions. It would be nice to see the same on desktop too. Any chance?

Regards

Does it show up under the Scheduled Transactions area?

No, it does not. It is at the top of the transaction list.

Hmmm, I don't know what to suggest; it worked for me. What version of PMD and OS? 2.0.0, 2.0.1, 2.0.2? Mac OS, Windows, Linux?

Mikus, If you're saying what I think you're saying, I agree. Here's what I see:

I create a new register entry that is sevearl days from today. On the iPhone, that entry shows up as a light gray (which says it will post in the future). On the desktop version, the entry shows up exactly the same as current entries. It would be nice to scan the register and see those entries that haven't posted yet. That's independant of the scheduled recurring transactions. It's mostly just an aesthetic thing, I guess. (MoneyDance does the same thing, only it highlights the future entires in yellow, I think). Anyway, it's a freature I'd like to see in the PM desktop version.

That's it, exactly.

I think I've figured out why I'm not seeing this. Do you have those transactions set to post x number of days in advance? I don't do that; I use the "Scheduled Transactions" register in PMD, and the "Repeating Transactions" register in PMiOS to view them.

Actually, for me nothing is set in "repeating transactions." I'm simply manually entering a new item in the account register that has a date set in the future. It's just the program recognizing that and marking it somehow in the account register (iPhone, PM grays it out, not happening in PMD). But, yes, this would happen if I had a repeating transaction that was set to post to the account register a set number of days in the future.

So, for instance, I open my checking account register and enter a new transaction. I make the date in the future. When I return to the account register on iPhone, that transaction is in light gray. Later, as time passes to the date that I entered, the transaction will be normal color.

OK, I just did a test future, non-repeating entry and confirmed that it: 1. Does not show up in the Scheduled Transactions register of PMD 2.0.1, and, 2. Does appear in normal type like a current transaction in the Test account register of PMD 2.0.1. Sounds like this needs to be reported at bugs.catamount.com

Here's the direct link to report it:

Don't forget to choose the PMD project first from the drop down menu.

Hi,

Is this feature (some sort of differentiating text color etc.for future transactions that have been entered into the register) going to be added into PMD?
