I have installed the version 4.0.1.
Now I can not add or edit transactions.
I hope soon to make a FIX, as this application is very important to me. Please !!!!!
It is the second time that happens to me, and I'm thinking, do more updates after that works.
I have at O.S. 3.1.3 (3G).
Thank you very much.

Pablo

It is time to get a new iPhone. The 3G is 4 generations out of date. At a MINIMUM you should get a 3GS since it can be upgraded to the current iOS 5.x, but a 4S would be better.

Then for an "iTouch", I believe the 3rd generation (Sep 2009 - Sep 2010) is the earliest that can use iOS 5.x. If you are maxed out at iOS 3.1.3, then you must have an original 1st generation "iTouch"

Eventually, Hardy will have to drop support for iOS 3.x and earlier, just as he is dropping support for my PPC iMac in the next PMD release.

As Mike said, I'm just a user like you.

I sympathise with Pablo. I have a 1st generation iTouch which had PocketMoney working well until 2 weeks ago (PocketMoney is a fabulous product). I pride myself on looking after my personal effects and don't see why I should have the latest and greatest. With respect, PocketMoney is advertised (at least on Australian iTunes) as working on iOS 3.1.3 as a minimum. I agree that Hardy should not have to keep supporting the older operating system, but if that is to be the case, then let us know so that we can make an informed decision (and iTunes should be updated so that there are no unsuspecting customers). Perhaps it would be an idea to have the version 2 weeks ago put onto to iTunes as a separate app for us "dinosaurs" and we could happily continue as was and not upset people like Romad?!

I'm not upset, Murray, just resigned.

I don't know who does the iTunes Store info, Hardy direct or Apple based on what Hardy gives them. Apple may have restrictions on having separate apps for different iOS versions.

Exactly!
Yes, I have de Original O.S., because an upgrade causes problems or add features that do not need this hardware. I am an IT professional and also know the advantages of upgrading and advancing the business and technology.
My iPod Touch works PERFECT and all programs except PocketMoney. Because if required O.S. 4 or later, they warn us and not installed. It's simple and everyone happy.
Otherwise, they take away the software without it being our desicion.
I think this is wrong and not aligned with the standard methodology.
This product is excellent, I'll wait to see what makes Hardy Macia about this.
Thank you very much, you were very friendly.

PocketMoney 4.0.1 Add Entry crashes, returning to iOS 3 home screen. I seem to be just one of many with this problem. I'm humbly waiting for a Users Forums Announcements topic titled "Bugs in 4.0.1 that will be fixed in 4.0.2" as acknowledgment of Catamount's attention and concern. Long time fan here, but i should've learned from last October's 3.1.8 update. I didn't, and i was foolish enough to update to PocketMoney 4.0.1 instead of waiting to read comments on your User Forums. I've just emailed support@catamount.com.

No problems with iOS 5.x. Your iOS is extremely out of date which may be a reason for the crashing.

Hi!
I received an email from the support of Catamount, which tells me they have sent a FIX to Apple for this issue. Great!
Thank you very much.

Arhhg - I've been waiting to get to my financial status since the release of PM 4.0 and the start up crash - I really like this little app, and have become so used to it working, that it is hard when it crash. I'm running iPhone 3 with iOS 4.2.1 (guess it is the highest for this old well functioning phone - no need to upgrade Romad - it works for my needs). Anyway, 4.0.1 didn't solve the problem, and just now 4.0.2 came available on the Danish iTunes - and sorry to say, it don't work either. Still start up crash.
Wonder if it is all about iCloud feature - the old models cannot sync with iCloud (even my somewhat old iBook G4 /Leopard can't). PM worked fine up till 3.1.9 - then came version 4.0 with iCloud stuff as one of the main features, and since that I haven't been able to get to my financial data.
Might be that the suggestion with releasing PM 3.1.9 as an app for us traditional/conservative/not Compulsive-Gadget-Acquisition-Syndrome guys could be a good idea - at least until the problem is solved in PM 4.x, so we can figure out how our money situation actually is.
Hardy - please - hope for a solution soon, that really solve the problem - you made a great app, and it seems we are a bunch of fellow who actually depends on it...
Regards - Peter

Getting back to PM lite 3.1.9 - without loosing data :-)

I'm running iOS 4.2.1 on an old iPhone 3G (not S) - and haven't been able to see my financial data since the upgrade to PM4.0.

So what did I do...

Get a version of PM (lite) 3.1.9 - you might have it in your iTunes/mobile application folder on a backup in Time machine - my date was before March 29th

Connect your iPhone to iTunes
On the App section, browse to the bottom, choose PocketMoney and copy the ".sql" file to your computer
Disconnect iPhone
Delete PM on your iPhone (and all its data - yes)
Delete PM 4.X from your itunes/mobile app folder

I booted both itunes and iphone here

In itunes - "File/Add to library" - add the PM 3.1.9

Sync iPhone
Then in the iTunes (app section - bottom of window) copy the ".sql" file back to your iPhone

...And voila, you are up and running as of March 29th

(Disclaimer: no guarantee, but it worked for me, and I'm happy now. Just have to wait with updates till somebody report that it works again)

This is a big deficiency of iOS -- the inability to downgrade easily if a new version of an app doesn't work properly, and having to employ such excruciating workarounds that even do not work for every user (because not everyone has Time Machine, etc.).

I agree with Faterson that not having the ability to downgrade easily is a Great Big deficiency of iOS. But that's a 'rant' for another day. However, even if one is on Windows and not a Mac, you can still follow pbusch's instructions; all you need is a Backup of the old (and working) app version; afterall Time Machine is just Mac's way of backing up.

After losing a computer's (and years) worth of data I've become paranoid about backing up. I backup my backups' for goodness sake. If you're just worried about losing 'data', then drag & drop any data that you cannot afford to lose to a USB flash drive. If you want your whole system backed up, use backup software and an external hard drive...well worth the investment.

Sorry about this mini-rant, I just hope to educate computer users about the benefit of taking the time to backup. I learnt the hard way, I hope I can prevent that from happening to others.
