Recurring Transactions with exact time

Postby Curare » Tue Apr 05, 2011 6:10 pm

I have a few repeating transactions in PM which I set up for a specific time. For example:
- Paycheck on the 1st at 6:00 am
- Rent payment on the 1st at 9:00 am
- Insurance payment on the 1st at 12:00 pm

I do it this way to prioritize my expenses and pretty much to make it easier to view my accounts.

The problem, however, is that when the next cycle arrives, all the recurring transactions are set to 12:00 am. What settings do I need to toggle to make sure my transactions always show the time I intended to use?

Another issue that comes up is a time zone issue. I set up my recurring transaction for those times above to cover a wide range of time zones, but when PM resets the future transactions to midnight, it messes up the scheduled dates. I travel a lot and I am constantly fixing my recurring transactions.

Please help.

No one? No one else has a gripe with this issue? No suggested solutions?

No, it is not possible, AFAIK. Besides, no matter what time you set, your financial institution(s) will use what their software is programmed to use, which is probably usually 12:00 A.M.

However, IIRC, PM uses the sequence in which you created the RT to post them with the following caveat: deposits are posted first. I believe that Transfers are treated as deposits/withdrawals in the appropriate accounts.

The 12:00:AM is a bug. I'm not sure when it snuck into the code. It should continue to use the same time that you originally created the repeating transactions at.

It seems like it has always been a bug. It's fixed for the next release.

Hi Hardy,

I'm still getting this problem. New recurring transactions are being reset to 12:00AM. Am I supposed to make the change in a specific section - recurring transactions section, or should it also work when I update the time in the regular accounts transaction screen?

Thanks.

Can I send some sort of a file for you to verify if the problem is on my setup because it seems I'm the only having this issue?

Yes, send your file PocketMoneyDB.sql to support@catamount.com and I'll look at it.

k, I'm looking at it. I see what's happening. I'll get it fixed for the next release. It will probably be after the New Year at this point.

Hi Hardy,

Does the 4.0 update fix the exact time issue?

Thanks!

Well, I can confirm that this issue has NOT been fixed.

I went to the repeating transactions section, and tapped on one of the upcoming transactions. I noted that it was correctly showing a set time of 6:00AM.

I the waited for the day that transaction would post. Anyone want to guess what happened?! Yup, it reset the time to 12:00AM!!

Hardy, you said that you knew what was going on and will fix it on the next release. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FIX! I will be traveling again and will encounter the fun of readjusting all the transaction dates.

I'm curious as to why this is so important. As long as it shows up in PM on the correct day, the time is immaterial.
