It’s the Roaring Twenties – WWI is over, mass production made technology available to the middle class (cars, radios, movies), skyscrapers, woman’s suffrage, King Tut’s tomb was discovered, and…

Alcohol prohibition just started. Al Capone sent you to the east coast to set up shop. Your goal is to make as much money as possible in 52 weeks without getting killed or thrown in jail.

You’ll battle Gustins Gang, ‘Lucky’ Luciano, Maxie ‘Boo-Hoo’ Hoff, Carlo Matranga, and might even have a chance to take out Capone.

Bootlegger and CandyWars fixes for iPhone 3.0 OS

Bootlegger (1.3) and CandyWars (3.1) updates have been submitted to Apple that fix the issue with the keyboard overlapping the buttons on the high score alert where you enter your name.

Submitting ‘I Am Poor’ for iPhone, yet again

June 16th, 2009

After sitting in the “in review” process for a few months. I got a call from Apple letting me know what the hold up was…in the about box I said “This app was initially rejected by Apple…”. I’ve removed this historical fact from the about box and have resubmitted.

All in all, it was a very good phone conversation. I was extremely calm through the whole call (which is very hard to do when dealing with the AppStore review process). Last week I had Bootlegger Lite rejected because Apple claimed I was up selling within the application, but I’m doing the exact same thing I am doing in CandyWars Lite which was approved. I do a similar up sell in CheckPlease Lite where there is a giant banner at the top of the app saying upgrade to CheckPlease if you don’t want ads, and CheckPlease Lite has been available for months also. I have no idea how the App Review Team is going to deal with all of the In App Purchase Up Sells…since most apps will be up selling new levels or gear within games. Obviously, either App Review Team needs to get some documentation out there about this, or they will have modify their internal process for rejecting apps based on up selling.

Prohibition 1: Bootlegger – approved by AppStore

CANTERBURY NH (Feb. 3, 2009)… Catamount Software announces Prohibition 1: Bootlegger has been approved by Apple for resale on AppStore.

In Prohibition 1: Bootlegger you play a bootlegger in the 1920s during alcohol prohibition — Al Capone sent you to the East Coast to set up shop.

Catamount Software’s Prohibition Trilogy  was planned to be three games dealing with prohibition in the past (Bootlegger), present (DopeWars), and future (CandyWars). Bootlegger and CandyWars have been approved for resale, but Apple rejected DopeWars.

Bootlegger has more depth than CandyWars as players can purchase vehicle upgrades, thugs, weapons and open speakeasies. CandyWars/DopeWars fans will be in for a few nasty surprises if they think they can play the game like the existing games.

Catamount Software founder Hardy Macia stated, “I enjoyed researching the history around alcohol prohibition and bringing some of it to the game — the art deco graphics, the mobsters you have to fight, and alcohol price fluctuations based on cities.

Catamount Software has been creating software for handheld platforms since 1993. Their other applications for the iPhone include Prohibition 3: Candy WarsCheckPleasePocketMoney, and MPG.

Price: $2.99
