Import and Export QIF and TDF Files
PocketMoney Sync imports and exports QIF and TDF (tab dilimitted) files. Depending on the
Preferences you choose, you can control:
Which file type to work with,
Whether or not you import, export or both,
Where you import and export from,
Whether or not you import payees, categories and/or classes,
Remove any Duplicate Transactions (recommended), and
Whether or not you export all transactions or only the latest modifications.
The import/export process is fully automated. Here is the order of how things occur after you dock your
PDA.
- Once synchronization for all items registered with ActiveSync is complete (including PocketMoney),
the import process is activated and begins looking for any files that may reside in the folder and format
specified in your Preferences.
(Remember, your PDA must remain docked with your PC for the import to
work completely.)
- If one or more files of the appropriate format is found, they are immediately imported. After import,
the imported files are then renamed to signify that the import was successful and logged in the
desktop database to ensure that the same file is not imported again.
(This helps to prevent duplicate
transactions).
- The export is then performed, saving any new data in the appropriate file format and to the export
folder you specified in Preferences.
(If you wish to export at any other time, and or in additional
file formats, you can simply change your Preferences and use the 'Export Now' button found on the
Folders Tab.)
- Synchronization is then launched one more time to update the PDA with your imported changes.
If PocketMoney is running on the PDA, you will be locked out of the application until synchronization is
complete. This should only take anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes depending on how large the
data to be synchronized is.
NOTE The only way to get the file to import again is to rename
it to the proper QIF or TDF extension.
NOTE If you ever want to delete all the data out of PDA easily and
quickly, click the Clear All Data button found on the My Data Tab in Preferences.
Your device must be docked with your desktop to enable this button.
