Manage Accounts

PocketMoney provides an easy-to-use interface that allows you view your current accounts, add new ones or update and delete existing ones. It also adds up your current balances on all accounts to show your total worth.

Viewing Accounts

You can view your current list of Accounts by simply opening the PocketMoney application. If you have any accounts added, they will appear automatically.

You can easily add or remove accounts from your Total Worth by checking or unchecking the box found next to each account.

You may use the selector at the bottom of the screen when viewing accounts to change the information shown for each transaction within the account. You may decide to show the Category, Cat/Payee, ID#/Payee, the Memo field, or just the Payee. Click on the transaction to view all details about the transaction.

Creating New Accounts

Creating an account is as easy as tapping New on the PocketMoney menu bar. A new Account view is immediately opened and you will then be able to fill in all the information about the new account that you'd like.

The account name and type are all that is required. However, there are three, possibly four (if using multiple currencies) tabs of information to fill in. Please fill out what you need.

Depending on the type of account you specify, there will be different items to fill in. In particular, choosing a Credit Card type account will cause an Expiration Date to appear, change Minimum Balance to Credit Limit on the Numbers tab, and add an additional Cash Advance Rate item to the Numbers tab. A Bank-type account will also trigger an Expiration Date, so that e.g., you can record the expiration date of your debit card, if that applies.

You will be able specify whether or not this account is included in your Total Worth. You can add an Opening Balance which is automatically applied to the cleared and absolute balances when the account is created.

If you have multiple currencies turned on, another tab will appear in this view. You can use this tab to specify the locale for the new account and the current exchange rate that will be used to properly calculate your Total Worth. Your Total Worth is calculated based on the current Regional Settings and locale of your device. Therefore, when you enter the exchange rate, use the rate that converts this account's locale to the device's current locale.

If you do not use multiple currencies, the account's balances and Total Worth are displayed using the device's current locale.

With version 2.0, you can now add a memo, or note, to each account. Other items like Transaction Fee and Interest Rate will be used in later versions of PocketMoney.

To save the new Account information, click OK. If anything is missing or the account name is not unique, you will be prompted.

Changing Account Information

To change any information about an existing account, do the following:

  1. Close any Account register that may be open so that the Accounts list is visible.

  2. Tap and Hold on the desired account. A popup menu will appear.

  3. Select Edit Account ... and change what is needed.

  4. Click OK to save your changes.

Viewing Account Details

This view shows all the information about a given account. Use this screen to check out current balances or retrieve things like phone information.

To view the current information for an existing account, do the following:

  1. Close any Account register that may be open so that the Accounts list is visible.

  2. Tap and Hold on the desired account. A popup menu will appear.

  3. Select View Account Details ... and review the account information.

  4. Click

    • OK to return to the Accounts List

    • Edit Details to edit the account information, or

    • Open Register to view the current list of transactions entered for that account.

Deleting an Account

To delete an existing account, do the following:

  1. Close any Account register that may be open so that the Accounts list is visible.

  2. Tap and Hold on the desired account. A popup menu will appear.

  3. Select Delete Account and follow the prompts.

Change Your Accounts View

To switch between your absolute balance (all transactions regardless of their cleared state) and your cleared balance (only those transactions that have been marked as cleared), use the Balance Picker located in the upper right-hand portion of the account list view.

You may also select opening balance or running balance views. The opening balance will show your original net worth, or the amounts entered as opening balances for each account. The difference between running and absolute balance will be the amount of transactions posted for a future date. See Also
